Welcome to REP NET, the official blog of the Youth Representative Programme! We’re so glad you’re here and very excited to introduce you to the new spot for all things Youth Rep.This will be a space where we can delve deeper into the Youth Rep’s experiences and what we learn from talking to lots of young Australians.

REP NET will give you the opportunity to get to know the program better and understand the impact of the work. Together we’ll explore the issues Aussie youth are concerned about and what meaningful change can be made to make a difference in our communities and broader society. For example, we’ll open up the conversation for young people across Australia to be able to discuss problems and solutions, and how we can advocate for change, especially after learning from the Listening Tour.

The blog is divided into three sections so you can tune into what you’re most interested in. In this first blog post, we’ll break down the three different areas so you know what to expect from future posts.

First up –  Youth Rep Plugged In. Here we’ll give insider knowledge of what the Youth Rep is up to. They’ll provide insight into their experiences during the Listening Tour around Australia, and write reflections as they go abroad to New York for the UN Conference. This is an exclusive look into the life of the Youth Rep and a chance to get to know them! They’ll update you in reflections where they can expand their thoughts on their current tasks or activities, giving a sneak peek into the awesome work they do.

Next up – Rep Team Online. In this section of the blog, you’ll get to hear from other volunteers who work on the Youth Rep Programme or other areas of UN Youth Australia. There are so many amazing people involved in this organisation who work behind the scenes to produce incredible results. We all support the Youth Rep and help make things like the Listening Tour possible – and you’ll hear some words from us too! This section of the blog will focus on breaking down the Youth Rep Report, with pieces on important issues to Aussie youth at the centre. It might even give you some ideas for your own future as a potential member of UN Youth Australia!

Last but certainly not least, there’s the YouthNet. This is where you can make your own space in UN Youth Australia by sharing your thoughts. Aussie youth can publish their own posts here – It’s an opportunity for you to expand on what you discussed with us during the Listening Tour— or, if you didn’t get a chance to come along, to tell us what you wanted to say! We will be taking submissions from people who are willing to work with us to have their pieces edited.

So we can share the best work possible—we don’t tolerate hateful or unkind language. Together we can create a space where everyone feels comfortable to share. It’ll take a month after submitting the piece to be published, and we have the final say on what we choose to publish. This is a great chance to share opinions on topics we may or may not have covered, as long as they’re relevant to our mission. It can even be a visual medium! If writing is not your thing, you can submit an art piece or video. We already have some posts up, so head over to the YouthNet to get an idea of the kind of work we will publish. This is your space to contribute to the blog and we can’t wait to see your ideas.

So there you have it – REP NET has officially launched, bringing to you a closer look into the program and the people it works with. We are so psyched you’re here, and can’t wait to team up with you on this blog. It’s going it be great!

Logging off,
