We're all about young people.
Young people are the heart of UN Youth Australia. Passionate and driven, UN Youth is run entirely by youth volunteers aged 18 to 25 in every state and territory across Australia. We’re focusing on building inclusive educational spaces for young people aged 10 to 18 because we know they have the vision to create meaningful change within their communities and throughout the world.
Our Facilitators interact with young people directly, making our peer-to-peer interactive education programs accessible to all.
Our Volunteers lead the organisation through operations, education, communications, finance and human resources.
Our Alumni continue to empower youth through their work in all sectors, including all levels of government and the United Nations.
Programs for youth, by youth
We run a broad range of peer-to-peer interactive education programs that give young people a deep understanding of the social and political issues the world faces today. From Model United Nations debates, Workshops, and our Interactive Problem Solving simulations, our programs foster ideas and innovation to support young people in solving global problems.
Our Divisions organise local programs, events and competitions in each state and territory.
Our National Activities bring together young people from all states and territories to engage with and learn from each other.
Our International Activities continue to empower youth through their work in all sectors, including all levels of government and the United Nations.
Our full list of programs and activities is not yet available on our new website. All events, including State/Territory Conference, Crisis Point, FunMUN, Summits and International Activities will be uploaded shortly.
Youth voice at the United Nations
Our Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations Program engages with young people across Australia to represent their views and experiences both domestically and abroad at the United Nations. We strive to provide a space for young people to critically engage with their most significant issues and provide a platform for their voices to drive local, national, and global change.

The Federation
UN Youth Australia operates on a Federation Model, in which each State and Territory has it’s own division consisting of volunteers that operate the organisation. These divisions form the eight voting members of UN Youth Australia and come together to steer UN Youth Australia forward. Divisions are responsible for running events within their own jurisdiction, such as State/Territory Conference and Evatt Model United Nations Competition.
Whereas UN Youth Australia is responsible for all National Activities in which delegates from multiple divisions attend, as well as all International Activities. UN Youth Australia and each state/territory division work closely together to ensure that immersive educational programs on International Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy are delivered to students all over Australia.
Federal Welfare (Child Safety) Policy
UN Youth Australia’s Federal Welfare Policy is the organisations framework for managing and reducing the risk of harm to any person involved in UN Youth Australia, including both child protection policies and risk management strategies. The policy was made to be in compliance with the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. All participants involved in any UN Youth event are required to abide by the Federal Welfare Policy as a condition of participation at events.
The Federal Welfare Policy can be found here. UN Youth Australia’s Chief Human Resources Officer is responsible for the implementation of this policy, and any questions regarding the policy can be directed to chro@unyouth.org.au.
