Meet Ruby Abercromby

About me
Hello! My name is Ruby, I am 22 and live on Garigal Land in Sydney. I am a pre-service English and History teacher currently studying at the University of Sydney. I care deeply about helping young people learn, lead, and feel confident in who they are. Most of my work sits at the intersection of education, youth leadership, and inclusion – finding ways to make learning engaging, supportive, and empowering for everyone. When I am not volunteering with UN Youth, I work as a Student Learning Support Officer. I love seeing students grow through personalised teaching especially when a bit of confidence or curiosity starts to click. In the past, I’ve had the chance to lead as President of UN Youth NSW, coordinate the Australian Youth Representative Program’s Listening Tour, and serve as Deputy Convenor of the New Zealand Model UN. Across all of these, my biggest motivation has been helping people connect, learn, and feel like they belong through transformational leadership. As the Board Chair, I am passionate about empowering young Australians and furthering our mission to be the nations peak global citizenship provider ran for and by young people.
