Happy New Year and welcome to 2021!
To our delegates, volunteers, schools and educators, partners and community, we thank you for joining us in 2020. We are excited to continue our journey with you in 2021! 2020 was nothing less than an unprecedented year, but here at UN Youth, it is certainly an exciting moment to enter into the new year.
Holding true to our passions to continue making an impact on everyday young Australians, our volunteers across the country have worked tirelessly on countless projects, programs and opportunities to ensure 2021 is a year we can continue to empower young Australians.
Whether you are a long-time returning delegate (a ‘delegate’ is the common name for referring to high-school students) or someone who has just stumbled across our organisation, there are countless ways to get involved with UN Youth in 2021.

UN Youth Australia is a national youth-led organisation that aims to educate and empower young Australians on global issues. We know that young leaders have the vision and passion to create meaningful change within their communities and throughout the world, and aim to equip them with the skills and inspiration to do so.
Delegate Opportunities
2021 is shaping up to be a year of exploring and discussing both present and future issues and rights that affect the everyday lives of all of Humanity. There are countless events to get involved both outside and within schools from day-summits to the Evatt and Voice competitions!
Our flagship event, Conference (known as State or Territory Conference), has already been launched in Divisions (State/Territories) such as South Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales! Exploring the (truly relevant) topic of Health, you’ll explore significant health issues affecting the international community and understand how a healthy society empowers you.
Coming soon is also the launch of our first-day summit. While we won’t tell you the topic just yet, it is a topic that has truly changed how global leaders, citizens and societies interact with each other.
A more unique opportunity to get involved with UN Youth is through the Australian Youth Representative to the UN, Lucy Stronach. Coming this February, Lucy will be embarking on the Listening Tour to consult with thousands of young Australians – and you can request she comes to your school! Head on over to unyouth.org.au/ListentingTour and fill in the form to ask Lucy to come to your school and hear your voices!

Volunteer Opportunities
Are you a young person who wants to drive big differences to even bigger issues? Volunteer with UN Youth and become that driver!
As an educationally focused organisation, UN Youth delivers programs and activities that aim to empower young people with knowledge and skills to understand the increasingly complex world ahead.
As a facilitator, you will be delivering internationally-focused content. Across a wide range of formats – workshops, Model United Nation Debates, and Interactive Problem Solving Simulations – facilitating is an experience like no other!
However, opportunities don’t stop there. As Australia’s largest youth-led Non-for-Profit, we have positions across the country that lead and execute the organisation’s functions. Join a divisional team as an organising committee member or convenor to run our biggest events such as Evatt and Conference. Or become an officer and join the divisional and national executive to be the organisation’s driving leadership. There are far too many opportunities to possibly list here.
Keep an eye out this mid-Jan for the start of year recruitment drive! Countless opportunities across the country will be open for you to apply and join the team! But if you can’t wait, check out the new committee positions for the Youth Representative Program where you will be leading discussions with crucial government, community and corporate stakeholders to enhance the voice of Young Australians.
Sponsorship and Partnership Committee
The Sponsorship and Partnership Committee will work to establish key long and short-term partners for the Youth Representative program. As a member of this committee, you will identify potential organisations for sponsorship and partnership agreements and secure such agreements for the Youth Representative program. This role plays a vital part in the operation of the Youth Representative program and has a drastic impact on the reach of the program nationally.

Engagement
Committee
The Engagement Committee will engage with Members of Parliament (MPs) on all levels of government to promote the Youth Representative program. As a member of this committee, you will liaise with MPs in attendance at Listening Tour events and MP events in each state and territory as part of the Tour. You will further liaise with traditional media outlets to elevate the importance of the program. You will further be part of the Report Back tour.

Being involved as a School or Organisation
At UN Youth Australia, we believe all students should have access to opportunities to learn about the international and significant issues, topics and developments that will affect them and wider society.
That’s why here at UN Youth we love running our programs within Schools! Designed to integrate within the classroom experience by building off learning objectives, we bring our workshops, Model United Nation (MUN) Debates and Interactive Problem Solving (IPS) simulations to the students!
Through Education/Schools Directors in every division (states and territories), educators at both schools and educational/community organisations can request topics to be brought to their school and delivered in a highly effective peer-to-peer education model. Suitable for groups of all sizes, the structure of our school visits are unique and flexible and can be developed to meet the individual needs of your school and your students.

Partnering with UN Youth Australia
UN Youth Australia is run entirely by volunteers with the focus of bringing high-quality and cost accessible opportunities to all young Australians. Cost should never be a barrier for access to education. You can help empower the learning of young Australians by sponsoring or partnering with UN Youth Australia and our wide range of organisational activities.
With a Division in each of the 8 State and Territories, our programs range from debate-like competitions to residential multi-day events that dive deep into internationally focused topics that affect the global community.
By sponsoring or partnering with UN Youth Australia and/or a division, the monetary or service support ensures our organisation can focus on quality educational delivery while making the opportunity increasingly accessible to young Australians.
