This year on UN International Volunteer Day, we aim to thank volunteers for their actions and showcase the impact of volunteering during the COVID-19 crisis. #Togetherwecan

These volunteers were nominated by their divisions for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm during an extraordinary year. Read their stories below. All submissions have remained anonymous.

Garima Sharma, NSW Director of Operations

“Garima is the gem that keeps the division together. She is respectful, caring, organised, diligent and a wonderful friend to all. Garima is an incredibly supportive member of the Executive who has accomplished so much during 2020 and in the duration of her time volunteering with UN Youth NSW. We are so grateful to have Garima in this organisation”.

“This year couldn’t have run without you, you are the mvp of this year and truly amazing to work with. Honestly garima is amazing. All our events were only possible because of her, it’s honestly crazy how much she did for us”.

“I wanted to give a big shoutout to Garima (NSW Director of Ops) – she’s been incredibly hardworking and dedicated this year and provided so much support to not just convenors and OCs but also all members as a whole. She’s always ready to offer help or advice and is so genuine with her words and her kindness”.

“Literally the entire NSW executive would like to shout out Garima Sharma NSW’s OPs Director for being a literal superstar all year long with our events running smooth as butter”.

Rosanna Radici, WA Vice President Operations

“She has done an exceptional job in delivering quality events this year even under challenging circumstances, and is always an active presence in the facilitation community driving positive experiences”.

Maddy Lezon, ACT Operations Director

“She is incredibly hardworking and supportive of all the convenors she oversees and has made huge efforts to ensure UN Youth ACT still ran events during the chaos of 2020”.

Alex Crellin, TAS President

“Alex really stepped up for Tassie when he took on the role of our divisional President amid the chaos that was 2020. We are all grateful for his hardwork and dedication!”

Liam Morgan, QLD Operations Director 2020

“Despite the challenges thrown at us this year, Liam has continued to be a relentless problem solver and found new ways to keep improving Qld”.

Sandhya Das, VIC Communications Director

“Since coming into the role, she has absolutely killed it, producing incredible content and has been working to restructure the role and change how we engage with our social media. She has done incredible work in the short time she has been in the role and all that jazz”.
