Queensland Treasurer

Location: Queensland
Closes: 27 November

UN Youth Queensland Inc. is the Queensland division of UN Youth Australia, a national youth-led organisation that aims to educate and empower young Australians on global issues facing the world. Our broad range of sector-leading peer-education programs educate over 15,000 young Australians each year from across every state and territory. UN Youth Queensland is looking for a new ‘Queensland Treasurer’ to join its team in 2021.

The Queensland Treasurer is responsible for the financial management and strategic supervision of the organisation. They must practice financial record keeping, and must be prepared to report every transaction to and from the organisation – typically through the Xero accounting software. The Treasurer must also, together with the Secretary, report to relevant government agencies and prepare financial records every financial year. More generally, the Treasurer must provide financial oversight, and support Convenors in their invoicing and receiving efforts. Additionally, the Treasurer must look to collect outstanding fees, and draft the annual divisional budget.

The Treasurer must be able to respond promptly to routine enquiries, and have an exceptional attention to detail. Our ideal candidate will have intermediate financial knowledge, but all necessary training will be provided. Although a challenging role, the Queensland Treasurer will have the support of the entire Executive team and the Chief Financial Officer of the National Organisation.

No prior experience with UN Youth, or knowledge of the United Nations, is required. Applicants must be under 25 years of age.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students looking to build their finance experience, and work in a safe environment designed for young people. All necessary training will be provided. Any costs incurred in your duty as a volunteer will be reimbursed.

The time commitment is 10-15 hours a week. This role is very manageable around study and work commitments.
