UN Youth Queensland Inc. is the Queensland division of UN Youth Australia, a national youth-led organisation that aims to educate and empower young Australians on global issues facing the world. Our broad range of sector-leading peer-education programs educate over 15,000 young Australians each year from across every state and territory. UN Youth Queensland is looking for a new Queensland Secretary to join its team in 2021.
The Queensland Secretary is responsible for non-financial record-keeping and governance. Their role is to assist the President in facilitating communication of the work of the Executive with the broader organisation. Their duties include preparing minutes at General and Executive meetings, handling membership applications, calling meetings, meeting certain government reporting requirements, and other administrative roles that may be delegated to them by the Executive from time to time.
An ideal Secretary has a high standard of written communication, and is able to complete tasks in a timely fashion. Of particular importance is the timely dissemination of minutes of meetings and the processing of membership applications, both of which are essential for the proper operation of the organisation.
No prior experience with UN Youth, or knowledge of the United Nations, is required. Applicants must be under 25 years of age.
This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to build their administrative experience, and work in a safe environment designed for young people. All necessary training will be provided. Any costs incurred in your duty as a volunteer will be reimbursed.
The time commitment is 10-15 hours a week. This role is very manageable around study and work commitments.
