About Junior Leadership Weekend

Are you in Years 7 – 9 in 2019 and passionate about making change in your community? Come to Junior Leadership Weekend!

In term 2 in 2019, more than 100 students from across Victoria will come together to take part in inaugural Junior Leadership Weekend. You will learn about leadership, diplomacy and advocacy in the context of the ‘Education Gap’ by talking about how students’ experiences in the education system differ. You will form connections and friendships with a diverse array of students and work with them to deliver change in your local communities, and beyond.

What’s Involved?

Junior Leadership Weekend is a 2 day, 1 night residential conference. Delegates will participate in thematic workshops based around the theme of education, and will enhance their communication, advocacy and leadership skills through structured skills workshops. Assisting the development of these skills will be influential and inspiring guest speakers, who will share their wisdom on the key to successful campaigning and social change.

By the end of the weekend, delegates will have an insightful understanding of some of the issues facing the education system in Australia, and will be more confident in their ability to create social change in their local communities, and eventually the world. They will also have a whole lot of fun with activities such as trivia and a disco, and make lots of new friends!
