State Conference 2019

“State Conference 2019 was one of the most influential, educational, and positive experiences I’ve ever had the privilege to be a part of” – Tess, 16.

State Conference 2019 was a 4-day residential event held over a weekend in March where students engaged with a range of global issues, and learnt about the world. Students were allocated a country which they had to research and represent during mock-UN committee and General Assembly debates. State Conference 2019 followed the theme “… and justice for all”, and ended up being one of the biggest on record, with 49 delegates attending. The education content included workshops, debates, and interactive-problem-solving, and the conference covered topics such as international justice, the history of justice in a globalised world, and how justice has adapted to a changing political climate. Overall everyone involved had a fantastic time and it was a weekend to remember!

A massive thanks has to go out to the event’s generous sponsors, the University of Tasmania, the Hobart City Council, and the Clarence City Council, as well as to the convenor Tom Harrison, and all the other volunteers who were involved in the organisation and running of the event.
