What is State Conference?

State Conference is Tasmania’s premier educational event that takes place across a 2-3 day period every year. The long weekend is full of educational workshops, informative and inspiring guest speakers and stimulating model UN debate. Perhaps the best part of all is the chance to spend time with many other like-minded young people from all over Tasmania. This event is open to all students in grades 9-12 and is such a fantastic way to meet people who are interested in global issues just like you!

The theme of this year’s State Conference is Health, and promises to be a fantastic weekend with excellent educational content!

2021 Changes:

2021’s State Conference will be running a little differently than our usual conference, students will now have the option to participate in one of two formats. This hybrid conference will run in two separate parts, one during the day (in-person), and one during the early evening (online). Students upon registration will be able to select which version they would like to participate in. This will allow delegates to choose which version they partake in and will give students who may not be able to attend the in-person event the opportunity to get involved without missing any aspects of the conference!

Media Enquiries

UN Youth Tasmania welcomes enquiries from media interested in reporting on the conference. Please email the Director of Operations, Gideon Daley, and we will get back to you with more information.

What Our Delegates Have To Say About State Conference

Our delegates love our events, and we want to share what they have to say with everyone!

“State Conference afforded me an opportunity that I couldn’t get anywhere else – it was one of the most unique learning experiences I’ve ever had and it has given me the chance to meet and bond with some of the most incredible people, who I can now proudly call my friends” – Emma, 2019

“State Conference was one of the most incredible opportunities to participate in. Being a delegate at State Conference taught me so much about debating, international relations and real world negotiating that it helped and encouraged me to study the university degree that I’m studying in 2019” – Sophie, 2017

“Going to State Conference was one of the best choices I have ever made. I went with butterflies in my stomach and left as another person with greater knowledge and a remarkable experience” – Clara, 2019

“I was never all that confident or loud. I was that quiet kid who you’d never hear talk but all of that changed for me because of State Conference. It gave me a voice to speak about things I’m passionate about and meet with some of the most friendly, talented and encouraging people I have ever met. State Conference made me the bright, happy and confident person I am today, and I am forever grateful” – Annabelle, 2019
