To clear up any confusion around our School Ambassadors Program, below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions. Should you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to email our SAP Coordinator, Eleanor Parrish, at eleanor.parrish@unyouth.org.au
Does my school need to have a MUN club for me to apply to be an ambassador?
Absolutely not! You do not need to have even participated in MUN before! We will help you get started with all things MUN, and are sure you’ll be a pro in no time! If you’d like assistance in starting a MUN club at your school, we are also able to offer assistance.
Do I need to have extensive knowledge on International Relations and the UN to be a part of this program?
Students of all backgrounds and all levels of knowledge of international affairs are encouraged to participate in the program. Our sessions are designed to be accessible to all, regardless of prior participation or knowledge.
How long will each SAP session go for?
Each SAP session will run for 2-2.5 hours. A full calendar of meeting times and dates will be forwarded to delegates.
Sessions are held on weekends (usually Sundays) so they will not cut into school time!
Where will SAP meetings be held?
The entire SAP program has now moved online to allow for greater accessibility and ease of attendance post-Covid.
What does the program entail?
SAP consists of a monthly workshop covering various topics such as diplomacy, international change and leadership brought to you by a team of our volunteer facilitators. Activities from SAP sessions in previous years have included MUN, debates, discussion groups, drama games, simulation crises and more.
How many students can participate from my school?
There is no limit on the number of students that can participate from a single school, so grab your friends and come along!
When will registrations close?
Registrations for the program will close when all positions are filled. Each year the intake for the program has been limited to 50 ambassadors. Make sure to register as soon as you can, in order to avoid missing out.
How old do I need to be to participate?
All students in years 8-12 are welcome to participate in SAP, regardless of age!
