What’s Involved?

The event will consist of two days where students will have the opportunity to participate in Evatt, Voice, or both! These two competitions are quite different, and are available to different students depending on their year group. We’ll be sure to organise the itinerary so that each student only has to attend on either Wednesday or Thursday.

After participating in either of these competitions, delegates (that’s you!) will be in the running to progress to future State and even National rounds.

Evatt

Evatt NSW is the state round of Australia’s premier debating and diplomacy competition.

Evatt is a Model United Nations Security Council diplomacy competition for students in Years 9-12. More than 2,000 students compete in Evatt each year.

Evatt aims to educate young people about Australia’s place in the world and empower them as active citizens by developing public speaking, negotiation, teamwork, research, and diplomatic skills.

The competition takes the form of a mock session of the UN Security Council. Teams of two students debate, amend, and vote on a prepared resolution from the perspective of their assigned nation. The students judged the most effective diplomats proceed to the next round.

  • Hone your ability to think on your feet, assisting you in leadership positions or debating competition in the future.
  • Build an increased knowledge about areas pertinent to you as students.
  • A chance to meet likeminded and engaged young people.
