Are you in Years 7 – 8 and passionate about making change in your community? Come to Junior Leadership Weekend 2017!
On 25-26 November 2017, more than 100 students from across NSW will come together to take part in the inaugural Junior Leadership Weekend. You will learn about leadership, diplomacy and advocacy in the context of education as a human right. You will form connections and friendships with a diverse array of students and work with them to deliver change in your local communities, and beyond.
Bridging the Education Divide
Why is education a human right? Why is equal access to education so important? What does educational disadvantage look like? How can we improve education on a local, national and international scale?
Education is a fundamental human right. However, this does not mean that everyone around the world receives an equal education, or even an education at all. In the last few decades major progress has been made in attempts to bridge the education divide. This includes increased enrolment in school for women and girls and improved basic literacy skills of children in developing countries. However, there is still so much work to be done! Come join us at the Junior Leadership Weekend 2017 to focus on solving educational inequalities on local, national and international levels.
Junior Leadership Weekend is a 2 day, 1 night residential conference. Delegates will spend the Saturday of the conference meeting each other and beginning our conversation on education. On Sunday delegates will have the opportunity to put their knowledge to use and come together to help create ideas and solutions targeted at improving education. Throughout the weekend they will get to partake in informative workshops and innovative Youth Change sessions. In addition, they will listen to and work with inspiring guest speakers. And not to mention a whole bunch of other fun things (including trivia and a disco) that will see you making new friends left, right and centre!
