Can more than one team from a school compete in Evatt?
Yes! We encourage schools to send as many teams as possible.
Do teammates have to be from the same school?
In the past, mixed school teams have only been allowed where a partner from the same school can’t be found. However, this year there are no restrictions on mixed school teams!
Do teammates have to be in the same grade at school?
No, students do not have to be in the same grade as their teammate. The only requirement is that both students are in Years 9-12.
What if I can’t find a partner?
We can find one for you! There is an option to register as an individual on the form. Once you have registered, we will pair you with another individual and put you in touch a couple of weeks before your preliminary round.
How long is each round?
Preliminary rounds will run from 9am to 3pm and involve a 90 minute workshop, followed by two 90 minute debates. There will be breaks between all activities.
When do teams receive their country allocation and resolution?
Teams will receive their country allocation and the prepared resolution via email two weeks before their preliminary round. Teams that register less than two weeks before their preliminary round will receive their country allocation and resolution shortly after registration.
When will the results be announced?
Teams will be notified as to whether they are progressing to the Semi-Finals and Grand Final by email after the last round in each stage of the competition. Evatt National Finalists will be announced at the Grand Final.
What is the dress code for Evatt Online?
Students are encouraged to wear whatever is comfortable for them. Most students wear either their school uniform or smart casual clothing. However, ‘dressing up’ as your country may be culturally insensitive and is strongly discouraged.
When do registrations close?
Registrations close at midnight on September 16th.
Are there bursaries available?
If the registration fee poses a barrier to your attendance, please contact us and we may be able to waive the fee. We believe that accessibility is of vital importance, and strive to do everything we can to help everyone make the most of our events.
