What is a summit?

A Summit is a full, one-day event, packed with discussions, interactive activities and opportunities to learn from experts and other like-minded people! These summits are great environments to learn about social and international topics, to catch up with old friends and to meet new friends, and to empower yourself with leadership skills and the knowledge to create change wherever you see change needs to happen.

What will I learn about?

At the Disability Justice Summit, delegates (high-school students!) will learn about the work being done to elevate disability justice through domestic and international law. Through a series of interactive and educational activities, delegates will have the opportunity to critically discuss the work of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as well as their own role in committing to disability justice. We will focus on unpacking key ideas of discrimination, ableism and exclusion in both an Australian and global context. Delegates will be encouraged to re-evaluate the significance of inclusion, accessibility and disability rights in the context of their world.

Where will the summit be held?

Please note that this event will be held over Zoom. A link will be circulated to all participants in the days leading up to the Summit.

Who is the summit for?

All Victorian students in Years 9 to 12 who have an interest in, or would like to learn more about, disability justice.
