Our NSW Young Leaders Summits have ended for 2022.
UN Youth NSW’s 2021 Young Leaders Summit: Disability Justice will see students from across New South Wales come together to discuss how shaping our global societies to recognise disability rights can make our world inclusive and accessible.
This Young Leaders Summit will be a full, one-day online event, packed with discussions, interactive activities and opportunities to learn from fellow young minds! These summits are great environments to learn about social and international topics, to catch up with old friends or to meet new friends, and to empower yourself with leadership skills and the knowledge to create change wherever you see change needs to happen.
At the Disability Justice Summit, delegates (high-school students!) will learn about the work being done to elevate disability justice through domestic and international law. Through a series of interactive and educational activities, delegates will have the opportunity to critically discuss the work of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as well as their own role in committing to disability justice. We will focus on unpacking key ideas of discrimination, ableism and exclusion in both an Australian and global context. Delegates will be encouraged to re-evaluate the significance of inclusion, accessibility and disability rights in the context of their world.
