That’s right – the Queensland State Conference is returning in 2019. Join hundreds of students in February for a weekend of leadership, diplomacy, and advocacy at the Sunshine Coast. Connect with issues that baffle the leaders of today and shape our national discourse. Form friendships with a diverse array of students from all around Queensland and Northern New South Wales, and become inspired to deliver change in your local communities, and eventually the world.

The theme for 2019 is ‘Security’. Starting in Brisbane, you will spend the first day of the conference meeting one another and getting ready for a weekend of complex discussions. The second day centers around understanding and discussing the issue through workshops, listening to and questioning guest speakers, and tackling a simulated crisis in an Interactive Problem Solving activity. Wind down afterwards at the trivia night, and get your boogie on at our dance!

The final days of the conference are your chance to emulate a member state of the United Nations in Model UN debates. Spend some time acting as a diplomat, and do your best to pass resolutions that will benefit the global community and align with your national interests – not always an easy task.

State Conference is one of the best events of the year and we would love to see you there. Register now, and get an ‘Early Bird’ Discount. All meals, accommodation, and venue costs are included in the price. There will also be scholarships available based on financial need and location. Here’s what Delegates from past State Conferences have had to say:

“I liked having my stance challenged, getting better informed, and having my perspectives changed by others.”

“I loved absolutely everything! Everyone who attended was amazing, the facs were awesome and I can’t wait to do some more Model UN”

“I loved that all the facilitators were so friendly and entertaining; it made everyone much more comfortable and was a good ice breaker. The types of debates we had were really interesting and new for me, and it was great to debate with such enthusiastic and knowledgeable people.”

“My awareness and knowledge for current affairs had increased drastically over those few days of Summit! I was able to chat to anyone about anything, give my opinion on a certain topic and discuss things that I had never talked about before!”

“Other delegates were so friendly and cool to hang with”

It was an absolutely fantastic weekend!”
